Before you hop into Rocket League's ‘February Madness,’ however, we have some additional details and tips for you to keep in mind while enjoying the new feature. We will be gathering feedback on the /r/RocketLeague subreddit all throughout the beta -- please drop by and let us know about any issues that you run into. You can also use #RLTournamentsBeta on Twitter to talk about your experience in the beta, call out issues, and more! Reminder: This Tournaments Beta is only available on Steam. Players on Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One will not be able to access the Tournaments Beta. Beta start time: Wednesday February 21 (today!), 10am PST (1pm EST/7pm CET) Beta end time: Friday February 23, 5pm PST (8pm EST/2am CET on February 24) How to Access the Beta

Go to your Steam Library on your computer and right-click Rocket League
Choose ‘Properties,’
Click the ‘BETAS’ tab in the pop-up window
Select ‘Tournaments Beta’ from the drop-down list
After closing the pop-up window, your Steam client will update Rocket League to the beta.
If you don’t see the Tournaments Beta option under the ‘BETAS’ tab at the start time, try restarting Steam or your PC after the beta begins.
Note: If you want to disable the beta, go back to the ‘BETAS’ tab, and select ‘NONE - Opt out of the beta program,’ and Steam will then update Rocket League back to your normal ‘live’ version of the game.
‘Beta’ Rocket League vs ‘Live’ Rocket LeagueAs you’re hopping into your first tournament, remember that the Tournaments Beta has limited functionality outside of the new Tournaments feature compared to the ‘live’ version of Rocket League that you normally play on PC. Some of the differences and limitations you should keep in mind are:
The Tournaments Beta has no online matchmaking outside of the Tournaments environment
You cannot trade with other players, trade up items, or use Crates and Keys in the Tournaments Beta build
You will have access to most of your item inventory, but some newer items (e.g.: some items from the Velocity Crate) may not appear. This is normal, and those items are still in your inventory in the ‘live’ version of Rocket League
Some of your settings may not carry over to the Tournaments Beta
You may see a preview of some new content or features (like expanded color options) in the Tournaments Beta
If you plan on switching back and forth between ‘Live” Rocket League and the Tournaments Beta, you may want to backup your save data files just in case. You can do this by going to the following folders:

WindowsDocuments\My Games\Rocket League\TAGame\SaveData\DBE_Production

macOS:~/Library/Application Support/Rocket League/TAGame/SaveData/DBE_Production/

SteamOS/Linux:~/.local/share/Rocket League/TAGame/SaveData/DBE_Production/

Tournaments Beta Known IssuesLike any test, you may encounter some quirks and stability issues during the Tournaments Beta. Some of these include…
Crashing if you leave a Tournament early before your series of matches has concluded
Occasional crash when you leave a tournament
You can run ‘Hoops’ tournaments, but there may be stability issues throughout
Tournament messaging appearing after you ‘Unsubscribe’ from a Tournament
Audio bugs when entering a match or training
Issues when multiple party members try to join a tournament at once
Join match loops if a user or split-screen user are removed from a tournament team
Third-party mods/programs may cause the Tournaments Beta to crash
Last but not least? Thank you to our Steam community for helping us test the Tournaments system, and have fun! We hope you’re all enjoying Competitive Season 7 so far, along with the Season 6 Reward Wheels. Starting, well, today, we plan on following every Content or Feature Update with a post to talk about issues that came up with that update (in this case, Rocket League v1.41) as well as address some issues we see you talking about on Facebook, Reddit, Twitter, and beyond. Now that the February Update is out in the wild, we’re working on a Mini Update (along with the Spring Update[www.rocketleague.com] and Tournaments Beta[www.rocketleague.com]) that we’re aiming to release on March 5. This Mini Update would address several known issues you may be aware of, including:
Change Preset not working on the Endgame screen
Division/Rank Up or Down not displaying on the Endgame screen
Controller vibration strength
The Mini Update is only targeting a few issues on our radar, while our Spring (March/ April) Update will contain additional bug fixes for multiple platforms. Season 7 Placement Matches
We’re a little over a week into Season 7 and many of you have completed your placement matches. We’ve seen some feedback on our soft reset format and we don’t want you to feel there’s unnecessary chaos during placements. With new seasons, we increase your ability to change ranks after the reset and this will naturally cause you to run into some players who were previously above or below your rank. This is totally normal and gives everyone a chance to recalibrate. That said, we do handle Champion ranks and above a little differently, and we wanted to dig into that reasoning a little bit here. We clamp the skill of Champions and above down to a skill ceiling between seasons around Diamond 3 / Champion 1 and let them climb back to higher ranks during placement and beyond. This measure is necessary to keep the top end of the skill curve manageable and to avoid it inflating season over season. This does cause some churn at those ranks that we’re discussing how to mitigate for future seasons. In the short term, this up-and-down is temporary and should settle sooner than later. Season 6 Rewards
Speaking of Competitive Seasons, our Season 6 Wheels were sent out with the February Update to all of you who qualified for Rewards. Keeping in line with previous seasons, we also revoked these Wheels from a number of accounts that were found to be abusing the matchmaking system. Matchmaking abuse may include boosting, being boosted by another player, win-trading, and other irregular activity. Diamond Wheels and Tsunami Beam Boost
Of course we saved the best news for last! First, we’re making a change with the Tsunami Beam Boost that came with the Victory Crate last week. After the February Update went live, we realized that Tsunami Beam had a chance of dropping with the Cobalt paint color. As Cobalt Tsunami Beam is very close to the original, we are removing all Cobalt-Painted Tsunami Beams and replacing them with Sky Blue-Painted variants. This will be automatic, will happen regardless if you received it as a drop or via trade, and is happening right now. Next, we’re happy to share the update we’re making to the Season 6 Diamond Wheel! We’ve taken in your feedback and addressed the Wheel’s look accordingly -- take a look at the Wheel below and let us know what you think on the Subreddit and on Facebook or Twitter. Thank you, and enjoy the Tournaments Beta next week! Ahead of its official release on all platforms in our Spring Update, the 'Tournaments Beta' version of Rocket League will be available for download on Steam starting Wednesday, February 21, with the beta ending on Friday, February 23. The beta is purpose-built to help us test functionality and the new UI we have created for the Tournaments system. Check out the trailer for the Tournaments Beta up top! How do you get into the beta? Easy! If you own a copy of Rocket League on Steam, all you’ll need to do, starting February 21, is 1) go to your Steam Library on your computer and right-click Rocket League, 2) choose ‘Properties,’ 3) click the ‘BETAS’ tab in the pop-up window, and 4) choose ‘Tournaments Beta’ from the drop-down list. After closing the pop-up window, your Steam client will update Rocket League to the beta. Once you have the Tournaments Beta downloaded, you will be able to create your own tournaments and join competitions created by other players. A few things to keep in mind if you want in on the beta:
The ‘Tournaments Beta’ version of Rocket League replaces the ‘Live’ version you already have installed, but it will NOT erase your XP, inventory, replays, or other player data.Your control configuration and some audio and video settings may change.

Competitive Playlists will not be available in the Tournaments Beta.Other functionality may also be limited.

Once the Tournaments Beta is over, or at anytime during the beta if you want to hop into a Competitive Playlist, simply go back to the ‘BETAS’ tab in the menu we mentioned above, choose ‘NONE - Opt out of all beta programs,’ from the same drop-down list, and Steam will download the latest ‘Live’ version of Rocket League.
There is no cross-platform functionality in the Tournaments Beta.
Beta start time: 10am PST on February 21
Beta end time: 5pm PST on February 23
We’ll be taking in all of your feedback about the beta on our Subreddit, as well as our Facebook and Twitter pages. Oh, and that new logo you spied in the trailer up above? We’re going to be celebrating the 10th anniversary of Supersonic Acrobatic Rocket-Powered Battle-Cars all year long, so look for the logo in all of our trailers throughout 2018! Rocket League’s seventh competitive season is right around the corner. It all begins in the first half of February, with a soft reset to go along with it. The reset means that once season seven begins, you'll need to complete a set of ten placement matches per playlist to be officially ranked (note: winning half of your placement matches should likely put you back at or near your previous Season 6 rank). League Rankings will be temporarily empty once the soft reset occurs. We’ve also taken some of your feedback on rank distribution, and we’re making a few adjustments in Duel (1v1) and Solo Standard (3v3) playlists to bring a higher percentage of those players into the Champion and Grand Champion ranks. Now that you have the scoop on Season 7, it’s time to talk about Competitive Season 6 Rewards! For this season’s rewards, we’re going back to one of your favorite Rocket League customization items. The new Wheels are some of the most detailed we’ve ever created, and their different colors should compliment some beautiful Battle-Car presets. The ‘Champion’ Wheels practically pop off the screen! Take a look at all six Wheel sets in motion with the GIF below. Remember: to qualify for Season 6 Reward Wheels, you will first need to have placed in at least one Competitive Playlist, and have earned the necessary Season Reward Level[www.rocketleague.com] wins. Here’s the distribution breakdown:
Bronze I or higher – Season 6 Bronze Wheels

Silver I or higher – Season 6 Silver Wheels + lower Wheels

Gold I or higher – Season 6 Gold Wheels + lower Wheels

Platinum I or higher – Season 6 Platinum Wheels + lower Wheels

Diamond I or higher – Season 6 Diamond Wheels + lower Wheels

Champion – Season 6 Champion Wheels + lower Wheels

Grand Champion – 'Season 6 Grand Champion' in-game Title + Champion Wheels + lower Wheels
We’ll have an exact Season 7 start date very soon, so stay tuned and let us know on Reddit, Twitter and Facebook what you think of the new designs! In our first Community Spotlight of 2018, we’re looking at the abilities that sparked improvement in the community, and which of those mechanics will help build the best of the best in Competitive Seasons to come. Whether you’re studying the latest tutorials or spending late nights in Custom Training, this blog will provide you with the blueprint you need to make 2018 a Calculated year! Custom TrainingApproach the ball with confidence, while flying through the air for a flip-reset shot and dash across the field with less boost while rotating into position. With Custom Training available at all times, scenarios like that are possible as the skill ceiling in Rocket League continues to rise every day. Listed below is another round of Training packs that are built to hone core abilities while focusing on newer skills like the aforementioned flip-reset shot and more. Prepare to challenge yourself and elevate your potential!

Need more Custom Training options? Head on over to last year’s final Community Spotlight[www.rocketleague.com] and begin 2018 with a strong practice routine. New MechanicsIt’s almost hard to believe, but even after two and a half years our community is still unearthing new Battle-Car mechanics. At first, players learned how to pinch the ball, but that wasn’t enough. After pinching came half flips, then jump resets, various flicks[redd.it], and then ceiling shots, but all of these advances leave us with a single question: What’s next? For many of you, wavedashing is still an advanced technique while successfully executing a ceiling shot mid-game is nearly unheard-of. That isn’t stopping players like JSTN[clips.twitch.tv], Lachinio, Squishy Muffinz, and UsedWolf[gfycat.com] from elevating the wave-dashing mechanic to another level, though! If you find yourself low on boost or racing across the the field, try practicing these cutting-edge multidashing methods and in time you’ll have one more trick over your opponents in both offensive and defensive situations. It’s still too early to say how far multidashing will take the Rocket League community, but we’re excited to see what players will come up with in the future! Who will be the next one to discover a new in-game mechanic? Keep practicing and maybe the next Community Spotlight will feature you! That means it’s time to reflect on another great year for Rocket League! Thanks to all of you, our fantastic community, for making 2017 Rocket League’s best year yet. Over 38 million of you have played more than two billion matches since we launched back in 2015, and with Rocket League China coming online via our first closed beta test, Soccar is about to go fully worldwide. The game we all love just keeps getting bigger! We had the pleasure of welcoming a whole new set of fans from the Nintendo Switch community - a huge milestone not just for us at Psyonix, but also for Rocket League as a game and an esport. We’ll be keeping an eye out for fellow fans sneaking in a few matches on-the-go as we travel home for the holidays. You’ve also helped us grow Rocket League Esports and the RLCS into one of the best competitive scenes on the planet. This year brought Rocket League to brand new tournaments like the Universal Open, The X Games and the recent ELEAGUE Cup. With the introduction of our Collegiate Rocket League program and the RLCS World Championships in LA and DC breaking records, there’s never been a better time to be a fan of competitive Rocket League. All of this growth has brought new challenges as well. Our CEO Dave Hagewood spoke back in March[www.rocketleague.com] about recurring PsyNet database outages that made it hard to log in and play, and we’re happy to say those issues have been almost entirely resolved. We’ve also added game servers in new regions like South Africa and Asia to improve the play experience for those players. There’s still work to be done, and two issues in particular will be a focus for us heading into 2018. The first issue is game server performance. We see feedback on this topic regularly and take it very seriously. While many connection issues are out of our hands - like when an internet service provider suddenly starts routing you differently to our datacenters - we are still monitoring performance and looking for ways to improve. We’ll be rolling out improved connection quality status information in the game client in 2018 that will tell you if you’re experiencing packet loss, latency variance, or legitimate game server performance issues. We’re looking into how we can allow the community to report servers they think are performing poorly to help us identify and resolve problems more quickly. We’re also planning improvements to region selection in matchmaking that would let us roll out servers in regions like US-Central without negatively impacting US-East or US-West. Our second focus is game performance on Xbox One. We don’t want Xbox players to feel ignored when they report issues, and we’ve rolled out fixes for stability and stuttering in our last two major patches. But we know some of you are still experiencing performance problems and we’re actively working to fix them. We’ll have more to share in the new year. Speaking of the new year, we have a ton of great new features and improvements in the pipeline headed your way in 2018. Our in-game Tournaments feature is still on track, though we had to delay the initial beta test until early next year. We’re going to revamp the progression system to make XP meaningful again, and you’ll be able to unlock new banners, titles, and free Decryptors on a regular interval by leveling up. There’s a ton of great “Quality of Life” updates in the works to improve your daily experience with things like inventory management, and we’re working on some new Achievements and Trophies for the hunters out there. By popular demand, we’ll also be sure to keep releasing new Dragon-themed content for your cars. Last but not least, we’re actively working on cross-platform party support for a 2018 release. Our PsyNet Party tests this fall were a huge success - thanks again to our patient Steam playerbase for helping us out! With PsyNet Parties now stably powering the Switch platform, we’ll begin rolling it out to all of our players sometime next year. 2017’s been our best year ever at Psyonix and we couldn’t have done it without all of you. Thank you to all of our fans around the world - we can’t wait to tell you about everything else we have in store for 2018. Happy Holidays and may all of your stockings be filled with Painted items!View the full article

Community Spotlight: Training Your Instincts

https://oceanicgaming.com.au/forums/topic/1988-community-spotlight-training-your-instincts/?do=findComment&comment=5722

We had fun with the basics[www.rocketleague.com], but now it’s time to kick training up a notch! Then get ready for Frosty Fest in Rocket League next week! Starting December 11 at 5pm PST (8pm EST, 2am CET on December 12), Frosty Fest is based on the same kind of in-game Event you experienced previously with Haunted Hallows[www.rocketleague.com] back in October. As you'd expect, the Event format is the same as Haunted Hallows, with ‘Snowflakes’ currency replacing the Candy Corn you earned with every completed Online Match. You can redeem Snowflakes to purchase Event items, Decryptors, or the brand new ‘Frosty Fest’ Event Crate! You can grab the ‘Frosty Fest’ Event Crate three different ways, including as a drop after some Online Matches or via unlock with the Snowflakes you earn. If you’re looking for a more immediate approach, you’ll be able to purchase the Crate directly through the Rocket League client like you would Keys or Premium DLC Battle-Cars. Finally, we’ve heard your feedback after the conclusion of our Haunted Hallows Event last month, and we’re making some changes based on that feedback, including how many Decryptors can be obtained -- stay tuned! So get the egg nog and nutmeg ready, don your best (worst?) holiday sweater, and we’ll see you in the Snowy Arenas of Mannfield, DFH and Utopia! Start Time: Monday, December 11, 5pm PST (8pm EST, 2am CET on December 12)
End Time: Tuesday, January 2, 10am PST (1pm EST, 7pm CET)

While our last Community Spotlight[www.rocketleague.com] put Rocket League pro players center-stage, we’re shifting gears this month to focus on giving new Rocket League players, particularly those playing on the Switch, a solid ‘Custom Training’ foundation for practice. CUSTOM TRAINING Just in time for the holiday season, Nintendo Switch owners got their hands on Rocket League for the first time earlier this month. While there will be some familiar faces playing on the Switch, we want to offer the true Rookies out there a top-tier list of community-sourced ‘Custom Training’ packs consisting of ground shots, wall shots, goalie packs and even aerial shots. New players can practice using this ‘Custom Training’ list to get a head-start against the Switch competition, while experienced players coming over from other platforms can use the new packs to hone their skills on the new hardware.

Whether you’re putting in the time to hit your Rank goal, grinding out Season Reward Level wins[www.rocketleague.com], or jumping into high-level play for the first time[www.rocketleague.com], you always want a fair experience going into a Competitive match -- and so do we! Starting today, we’re making some changes to the competitive matchmaking ban system. The goal of these changes is to discourage players from disconnecting from Competitive Playlist matches early; nobody likes to lose, but it’s always important to finish out a match if a forfeit vote fails, no matter what side of the score you’re on. Currently, players who leave Competitive matches early are subject to a 15-minute ban from Competitive Playlists. Our new system will have seven ban levels, starting with a new, shorter five-minute ban at Level 1. See below for the full breakdown. Level 1: 5 Minutes
Level 2: 10 Minutes
Level 3: 20 Minutes
Level 4: 40 Minutes
Level 5: 60 Minutes
Level 6: 120 Minutes
Level 7: 24 Hours
Once a ban expires you will stay at that ban level for 12 hours, but if you leave another Competitive Playlist match during the same window, you will go up one level. If you don't leave any Competitive matches early during the same 12-hour window, you will go down one level, eventually going back down to Level 0. You’ll still see the same kind of notifications with the new system, so active bans will appear at the bottom of the Playlist window. If you reach Level 7 (Wow!) and consistently leave Competitive matches before a match concludes, we may take additional actions against your account, including timed or permanent bans from all online matches. We hope these changes will cut down on the number of players who duck out of Competitive matches early. Who knows, by sticking around until the timer hits 0:00 instead of making for the Main Menu, you might just get a few Reddit-worthy comeback wins under your belt.View the full article
